In November 2009 I started writing my first Conscious Cooperation book. It was published in 2012 by iUniverse. The title is Conscious Cooperation: How to Create Successful Construction Projects.
I put my heart and soul into it, and I believe I said about everything I wanted to share.
The book has a number of stories from my long construction career and an expanded version of my tips and guidelines to establish and then nurture projects that are successful for everyone involved. It also includes interviews with noted mediators, some friends in the field of construction, and customers.
We know how contentious construction often is. If you have looked at this blog and my website at all, you know about my conviction that we can take definite steps to lessen and even eliminate conflict related to projects. And beyond the matter of conflict, everyone involved in a project can actually experience satisfaction , enjoyment and even fun. Strange concepts perhaps for the world of construction, but my customers and people working with me have experienced all of these along with me.
The concepts actually apply to any working relationship.
Along the way I received a lot of great support and wisdom, which played a large role in bringing the book to life. For years people told me I should write a book, and marketing maven Mark Silver helped wake me up to the fact that I really did have one to write. I express deep thanks to Mark and many others who were great sounding boards, cheerleaders and sources of wonderful feedback and thought.
I hope you enjoy it and find helpful information.
Wishing you all the best…
