Is This You?

As a property owner, either through your own experience or through horror stories you have heard, do you believe it is extremely rare or impossible to have a positive experience with a construction project? Do you believe you have to hawkishly watch every move of the contractor? That most of the time their lips are moving it is probably to say things that are not true? Do you believe that they will try to find ways to take your money unless you are completely on your toes?

Do you fear cost overruns and financial battles with your contractor?

Or perhaps you have better experience or warmer beliefs than what I just laid out, but you are simply overwhelmed with the prospect of designing and doing a project and hiring good people.  Perhaps you are in the midst of a project where there has been some breakdown in communication and trust, and you are in conflict.

You are overwhelmed by the thought of taking on a building or remodeling project. Large projects especially demand to have a myriad of details decided and attended to. There are so many things to keep up with and stay on top of. Yet even a bathroom remodeling project can seem like a daunting undertaking.

You are frightened by the prospect of having to choose an architect or designer and then a contractor. How do you know you will get someone honorable and skillful? You have probably heard or experienced your share of horror stories about construction projects gone awry. The poor communication. The adversarial stances. The lack of respect. The potential legal battles and related expenses.

You are in the midst of a project in which there has been at least some breakdown of communication and goodwill. Maybe things started out on a good footing and then deteriorated. And once things start to deteriorate it can be awfully difficult to start to mend fractured relationships and turn things back around. Think of the 1000 foot oil tanker that is painfully slow to turn back from an errant course.
